Rolex Submariner Date 16610LN 2008 [Preowned]

Overview 

The Rolex Submariner Date 16610LN is the pre-ceramic generation of the 40mm Submariner Date, produced until 2010 when Rolex replaced it with the 116610LN. The 16610LN carries a black aluminium bezel insert — the last Submariner Date generation to do so before the Cerachrom ceramic bezel became standard. This example dates from August 2008, placing it among the later production runs of the reference.

The 40mm Oystersteel case carries a black aluminium unidirectional bezel insert with a 60-minute graduated scale. The black dial runs applied luminous hour markers with a date window at 3 o'clock under Cyclops lens. Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock safety clasp.

The movement is the Calibre 3135: self-winding, date complication, Superlative Chronometer certified, 48-hour power reserve. Water resistance to 300 metres via the Triplock crown.

The 16610LN is the final pre-ceramic Submariner Date and holds a specific position in the collector market as a result: it represents the aluminium bezel generation before Rolex standardised on Cerachrom. Late-production complete-set examples are scarce; the August 2008 papers place this within two years of the reference's discontinuation.
