Overview 

The SBGA413G "Shunbun" is Grand Seiko's most literal expression of Japanese seasonality in dial form. Named for the vernal equinox, it is titanium-cased, Spring Drive-powered, and built around a dial that changes character depending on the light it receives. That last quality is the reason this reference exists as a distinct release rather than a colour variant.

The 40mm case is high-intensity titanium — noticeably lighter on the wrist than steel at the same diameter, perceptible from the first hour. Zaratsu polishing produces mirror-flat surfaces and razor-sharp case transitions. The dial is pale pink with a textured surface that evokes cherry blossoms on still water; it shifts from silvery-neutral to a distinct warm pink depending on the angle and the light source. Power reserve indicator and date integrate into the composition without breaking the surface.

The movement is the Calibre 9R65 Spring Drive — an automatic that uses a quartz oscillator as its regulator rather than a traditional lever escapement. The result is a seconds hand that moves in continuous, uninterrupted motion. No step. No tick. Power reserve is 72 hours, displayed through the sapphire caseback.
