Overview 

When Omega relaunched the Seamaster Diver 300M in 2018, the headline change was the movement: Calibre 8800, Co-Axial Master Chronometer, METAS certified to -0/+5 seconds per day, and magnetic resistance rated to 15,000 gauss. The 210.30.42.20.06.001 is the 42mm steel configuration of that generation on the steel bracelet. On the secondary market with complete documentation, it represents honest entry into certified Master Chronometer ownership at a price well below what those movement credentials cost in comparable watches.

The case is 42mm stainless steel with the rounded lug profile and helium escape valve at 10 o'clock. The ceramic bezel is blue with the diving scale; the dial is grey with teak-concept horizontal wave-pattern finishing, applied luminous indices, and sword-point hands. The grey and blue combination is the more restrained variant in the current Diver 300M steel range: against the all-blue (210.30.42.20.03.001) where dial and bezel form a unified colour statement, the grey dial reads as a tool watch that carries a blue bezel rather than a colour-forward piece, which extends its wearability across more contexts.

The Calibre 8800 is METAS certified to -0/+5 seconds per day across eight positions and in magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss — a stricter independent standard than COSC. The Co-Axial escapement's reduced friction extends service intervals compared to a conventional lever escapement, a practical benefit for a watch used daily. 55-hour power reserve with a free-sprung balance for improved shock resistance.

The Diver 300M 42mm occupies a specific position in the steel dive watch market: above the Tudor Black Bay on movement certification (METAS vs COSC) and well below the Rolex Submariner on secondary pricing — the METAS-certified position that neither alternative occupies. Within the 210.30.42.20 range, colour configuration is the primary variable between references; the specification is identical across the lineup. We believe RM14,000 is a rational secondary entry — current retail on this generation is higher, and a complete-set example in excellent condition represents genuine ownership value without a speculative component.
