Overview 

The Patek Philippe Calatrava 6000G-012 was unveiled at Baselworld 2015 and discontinued shortly after in 2017, distinguished within the Calatrava line by a dial layout the collection otherwise avoids: an asymmetric small seconds sub-dial between 4 and 5 o'clock, and an outer radial date track read by a pointer hand rather than a date window. The case is 18k white gold, 37mm, 9mm thick. Where the standard Calatrava reads as restrained and symmetrical, the 6000G-012 reads as instrument-like, closer to the graphic language of a chronograph than a time-only dress watch.

The dial is a vibrant blue sunburst, with white gold Arabic numerals and a matching navy alligator strap. The small seconds sits off-centre between 4 and 5 o'clock, and the date is read via a pointer hand tracking an outer radial scale rather than through a conventional window. Sapphire crystal caseback, giving an unobstructed view of the movement's hand-finishing. Water resistance is 30 metres, in line with a dress watch rather than a sports reference.

The movement is the Calibre 240 PS C: an ultra-thin self-winding movement built around a 22-carat gold micro-rotor recessed into the mainplate rather than mounted on top of it, the construction that has defined Patek's calibre 240 family since 1977. It runs 27 jewels across 191 components, measures 27.5mm by 2.53mm, and holds a 48-hour power reserve at 21,600 vph. The micro-rotor is what keeps the case at 9mm despite the automatic winding and date mechanism, the specific engineering trade Patek is making here.

Within the Calatrava range, the 6000G-012 sits apart on dial language rather than case or movement, a deliberate departure from the round, symmetrical dials that define most of the collection, and one Patek has not repeated since discontinuing this reference. Against the standard time-only Calatrava references in the same size and metal, this piece carries a premium for the complication and the now-limited supply of a discontinued dial variant. We see steady collector interest in the blue dial specifically, ahead of the black dial 6000G-001 that preceded it. This piece is preowned, excellent condition, complete original set with box and papers dated July 2017, at RM98,000.
