Rolex Air-King 40mm 126900

Overview 

The Air-King was discontinued in 2014 and reintroduced in 2022 as a deliberate aviation-heritage reference, distinct from the sport watches that surround it in the professional catalogue. The 126900 draws from that history directly: a dominant minute scale, oversized Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9, and the green-and-yellow Rolex crown logo at 6 o'clock that references the Air King squadron livery of the 1950s.

The case is 40mm Oystersteel with crown guards — an engineering detail borrowed from the Explorer II generation that gives the Air-King a more robust case profile than its price point might suggest. The black dial is designed for legibility at distance: large numerals, a clear minute track, and a distinctive yellow seconds hand. No date window, which keeps the layout uncluttered. This is not a subdued watch.

Calibre 3230, 70-hour power reserve. Same movement as the Explorer 1 — Chronergy escapement, Parachrom hairspring, and Superlative Chronometer certification to ±2 seconds per day.

The 126900 is the entry-level Professional Rolex and the boldest dial in that price band. Against the Explorer 1 at a comparable price point, the Air-King is louder and more legible; the Explorer is quieter and carries stronger collector heritage. Both are rational acquisitions — the choice comes down to which visual character the buyer wants on the wrist. Brand new, unworn, complete with box and papers dated September 2025, at RM38,000.
