The Story
Overview
Within the 278274 White Rolesor range, the grey Roman configuration takes the most classical dial approach. Where the diamond marker variant introduces material contrast at the hour positions, the Roman numeral dial maintains tonal consistency — applied 18-carat white gold characters on grey sunray, framed by white gold fluted bezel and matching Jubilee bracelet. The result is a monochromatic composition that reads more quietly than either the diamond or standard index alternatives in the same reference.
The case is 31mm Oystersteel with a fluted 18-carat white gold bezel. The grey sunray dial carries applied white gold Roman numerals; the sunray finish shifts the grey through charcoal and lighter slate as the wrist moves, adding depth to what would otherwise read as a flat ground. The Jubilee bracelet is the five-link construction with white gold centre links — the White Rolesor detail extends into the bracelet, consistent with the bezel. Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock; date complication.
The Calibre 2236 — Rolex's dedicated movement for the 31mm Datejust — runs a Syloxi silicon hairspring and delivers a 55-hour power reserve. Certified Superlative Chronometer to ±2 seconds per day. Water resistance is 100 metres.
Against the pink Roman 278274, the grey is the cooler and more neutral of the two configurations. Pink makes a clear colour commitment — it reads warmer, more distinctly feminine, and pairs to a narrower range of contexts. Grey stays closer to a true neutral: it works across a wider wardrobe range and reads as less occasion-specific on the wrist. Both share the same White Rolesor construction and Roman numeral dial format, so the choice between them is fundamentally about palette preference — whether the buyer wants warmth or restraint as the dial's baseline character. Brand new, unworn, complete with box and papers dated June 2026, at RM50,500.
