Overview
The Datejust 41 offers two fundamental directions: the fluted or set bezel that dresses it up, and the smooth bezel that strips everything back to the case and dial. The 126300 in slate grey takes the second path, smooth polished bezel, Oyster bracelet, applied indices, no precious metal anywhere, producing a Datejust that reads closer to the tool watch end of the spectrum than the dress end. Introduced as part of the 2016 Datejust 41 update, the 126300 is also the reference that received Calibre 3235, which made the case changes worth paying attention to on their own terms.
The case is Oystersteel, 41mm, with a smooth polished bezel and Oyster bracelet; flat three-piece links with Oysterclasp and Easylink comfort extension. The dial is slate grey with a sunray finish: the surface shifts between charcoal and lighter silver tones depending on the light angle, producing more depth than a flat grey or lacquered black. Applied 18k white gold index markers carry Chromalight lume; the overall composition is deliberately monochromatic, nothing is there for decoration.
The movement is Calibre 3235, Rolex's current-generation Datejust automatic replacing the 3135 that ran for three decades. The meaningful changes: 70-hour power reserve (up from 48), the Chronergy escapement for improved efficiency, and a Parachrom hairspring in blue Niobium-zirconium alloy that is non-magnetic and approximately ten times more resistant to shocks than conventional alternatives. Certified as a Superlative Chronometer to ±2 seconds per day. For a watch that most owners rotate through a collection, the 70-hour reserve eliminates most instances of finding it stopped.
The 126300 is the all-steel Datejust 41 at its most pared back; no bezel premium, no precious metal in the bracelet. Against the 126334, which adds the fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet, the 126300 is the quieter choice; the movement and case dimensions are the same, the difference sits in material and bracelet register. We are currently seeing the 126300 trade near retail in the secondary market. Brand new, unworn, complete with original box and papers dated June 2026, at RM43,500.
