Overview 

For years the Oyster Perpetual was the entry point to the Rolex catalogue — technically complete, deliberately unadorned, rarely acquired with much deliberation. The vivid lacquer dials of the current generation reversed that: the 126000 in Lavender became one of the references that drove genuine wait times at authorised dealers when the colour range launched. A no-date watch in an opaque purple-violet dial from a brand built on instrument aesthetics was an unexpected configuration. It held.

The case is 36mm Oystersteel with a smooth bezel and no complications. The Lavender dial is a deep, opaque lacquer with no metallic finish and no directional shift under light — a flat colour, which makes it read differently from every other dial in the current Rolex catalogue. Applied 18k white gold indices and hands sit against it as the only contrast element. On the Oyster bracelet with its fully brushed finish, the watch places a tool-watch construction directly against a colour that belongs to a different register — neither element softens toward the other, which is what makes the configuration work.

Within the OP36 colour dial range, the Lavender has consistently held among the stronger secondary positions alongside the Turquoise and Pistachio — the trio carried genuine scarcity at authorised dealers during the initial allocation period, and neither has normalised to the secondary levels seen on the Yellow or Pistachio configurations. The Calibre 3230 — 70-hour power reserve, Chronergy escapement, Superlative Chronometer certified — is the correct-generation movement, introduced alongside the colour dial refresh. We believe the Lavender remains a strong secondary position in the current OP36 range; demand is ownership-driven at this stage rather than access-driven, and pricing reflects that.
