Overview

The Black Bay Chrono 39 corrects the most consistent criticism of the Black Bay Chrono lineage. Where the 41mm generation carried a case profile that many collectors found at odds with the vintage ergonomic reference points the watch was attempting to evoke, the 79310N brings the case to 39mm and 13.1mm thickness across a 47mm lug-to-lug span. The "Bumblebee" colorway carries a bright yellow dial with black sub-registers, a visual nod to the Tiger chronographs of the 1990s. That is the headline. The case architecture is the substance.

The case is 39mm 316L stainless steel with a fixed tachymeter bezel and screw-down pushers with revised knurling. The matte yellow dial runs in a Reverse Panda layout: yellow ground, three snailed black sub-registers. The Snowflake hour hand has been proportionally shortened to clear the sub-register tracks at this case size. The three-link steel bracelet drops the rivet aesthetic of the previous generation for smooth flanks with an integrated T-fit micro-adjustment system. Water resistance is 200 metres.

The Calibre MT5813 is the Black Bay Chrono's manufacture movement: column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph architecture developed on the Breitling B01 platform, modified with a silicon hairspring and variable inertia balance wheel. COSC-certified. 70-hour power reserve. The movement specification carries over from the 41mm generation; the engineering work on the 79310N was in the case geometry required to house it within a 13.1mm profile while maintaining 200-metre water resistance.

The 79310N launched in June 2026, and this example carries launch-month papers. Pricing at RM38,000 reflects the early-cycle premium typical of a significant re-engineering release; giving the first variant a specific position in the lineup's production history.
